Weekly Roundup: Week 33 – 2023

<– Week 32 HOME Week 34 –>

Sunday 8.13
I had hoped to get a little more back on track today, but I ended up school shopping for my son with his friend’s family. We all went to lunch at Zaftig’s in Natick and it is impossible to eat light there. I shared the banana nut bread and also had a reuben with fries. I gave away some fries to Thomas and didn’t finish them all.

For dinner, I turned the day old baguette into crostini and topped it with the tomato-mozzarella salad I got at the Cheese Shop. That was amazing. We also ate some of the cheese I got yesterday, Alisios and Old Witch, with some rice crackers and cornichons. Kelly and I shared a half bottle of Duckhorn Paraduxx.

Monday 8.14
I had a simple lunch today, finishing the last of some Thai chicken salad from The Cheese Shop. It’s a really great chicken salad, but this batch was not as spicy as the one I had before. For dinner I made some chicken with tomatoes and a pepper that Kelly brought home from work. I also added in onion, jalapeño, and corn. I served it with chipotle spiced rice, green hot sauce, and cilantro.

Tuesday 8.15
After many days away, I was back in the office this morning and you should be. able to guess where I went for lunch, DeNo’s of course. They still don’t have seating. This is getting insane. On March 6 I went in to get a slice of pizza and they told me they would be renovating for three weeks. It has been over five months now. So just like I did back on March 6, I got a slice of cheese to go.

For dinner, we went to Waltham to visit the Guatemalan bakery for Kelly’s mom. We had dinner at Amuleto Mexican Table. It was good. We started with chips and salsa, then had some plantains, brussels sprouts, and mini tamales. Last we had a roast pork taco and a shrimp-stuffed jalapeño taco. That last one was particularly good, but I also really liked the pork tamale. We eat a lot of Mexican food, but this was good enough that we would go back.

Wednesday 8.16
I had some chicken last night that I wanted to cook before it went bad, so I boiled it to make stock/broth. And for lunch today I took one of the chicken thighs on the heels of a loaf of bread, slathered with honey mustard, with a piece of cheese, and some potato chips for lunch.

My dad and Elias are in town so for dinner I made pork tenderloin, roasted carrots, and mashed potatoes. Before that I munched on some leftover cheese, crackers, and cornichons from Sunday and some pretzels. I skipped dessert in favor of wine, and a sapphire and tonic at the Colonial Inn.

Thursday 8.17
I ate way too much today. I had a burger from Crosby’s with some chili lime pringles that I found at Target over the weekend. The burger was on a different bun than usual so the bread to burger ratio was a little off. The chips were good. Not my favorite spicy chips, but I’d get them again. I also had a slice of the banana-chocolate chip bread my wife made last night.

That was enough for my big meal of the day, but then for dinner we went to Karma. We shared crab rangoon and beef skewers. I only ate one of each, but when the sushi came I think I ate the most. After that we went to Bedford Farms and I got a mini peach ice cream. It wasn’t a lot but it was more than I normally eat.

Friday 8.18
I feel like I’m coming down with a cold, but my dad is in town and I can’t slow down. For breakfast, I heated up a slice of banana bread and then had a few pringles for lunch. For dinner, my dad and Elias brought some cheese and cornichons. I made beet-feta spread, lamb meatballs with tzatziki, and some hot sausage with poblano and onion. Kelly made my dad a peach upside down cake for his birthday dessert. We also opened gin no. 081 from the Royal Botanical Garden in Ontario.

Saturday 8.19
I still don’t have much of an appetite so all I ate during the day were a few pretzels and a few pringles, yup I’m eating a lot of those lately. For dinner we went to SRV. We started with squash blossoms, salt cod, and meatballs. Then we had potatoes and quail. For my main course I had rabbit agnolotti, For dessert we shared tiramisu, but I also had a bite of my dad’s corn cake and kiwi ice cream.
