Saint Lawrence Spirits is located in Clayton, New York along the Saint Lawrence River. They make four gins including Downbound which is a barrel-aged, navy strength gin. The neutral spirit is made from local corn and wheat and botanicals are sourced from their family farm Lucky Star Ranch. They use water from the Saint Lawrence River to proof down all their spirits ensuring The Spirit Of The River In Every Bottle.

Downbound is barrel aged in Rye Knot Whiskey and Captain’s Flask Bourbon Barrels. The distiller notes a flavor of toasted pine nuts and honeysuckle. At 114 proof, it’s a strong gin that sips nicely after dinner, but I think it will do nicely in a variety of cocktails.

My friend Michael took a trip to Clayton and brought me this bottle as a gift. We opened it on October 5, to celebrate the first meal in his new house.
