  • Nora’s Irish Dry is made by Tigh Nora, a bar in Galway, Ireland.
  • The gin and the bar are named for Nora Barnacle, wife of James Joyce.
  • A London Dry with a modern profile, it’s delicious in a G&T.
  • I got my bottle from Michael when he visited Tigh Nora in 2025.

Michael went on a trip to Ireland in April of 2025. He brought me back a bottle of Nora’s Irish Dry. It’s produced by Tigh Nora, a gin bar in Galway that serves over 200 different gins. Both the gin and the bar are named for Nora Barnacle. She was the wife and muse of James Joyce, the Irish author who is used to torture students.

The gin is bottled at 80 proof but isn’t ideal for sipping neat. It has a hot finish and drinks better with tonic. A London dry, the distiller lists botanicals including, juniper, peach, rose petal, and bitter orange peel, but we tasted a dominant cardamom flavor in our tasting.

We opened the bottle on May 10, 2025. So far, it’s the best Irish gin we’ve tried. Unfortunately, I can’t find it for sale in the states, even online.
