My farm share starts this month, but I’m leaving for Hilton Head almost as soon as it starts. Besides that, I don’t have any specific plans, but I’m sure we will find something good to eat.
June 2
I made bratwurst and cabbage using Pig Rock brats which are my favorites.

June 4
We had a nice dinner on the patio at The Colonial Inn. We got the chicken quesadilla which I always enjoy and the crab cakes which are fine but not special. We also had a couple of Aperol Spritz which were perfect for a hot spring day.

June 5
I made a steak and some green beans with bacon and onions.

June 6
I went to Riverside exactly one month ago. Last time I got a gyro which was good. This time I got the cheeseburger club which was not. Need to avoid that one.

June 7
Short Path had a summer party today and released a new gin. Being a huge fan of Short Path, I had to grab a bottle so I added Pink Gin to the collection as no. 110. I also got to try Migration Batch 5 at their barrel bar. I have 1-4 in the collection, but had never tried this one.
But it wasn’t just drinks, they also had a couple of food trucks. The first was Cousins Maine Lobster where we tried their chowder. We were not impressed. Better though was Daddy’s Bonetown Burgers which served up a burger smashed into sweet onions with beer mustard and bacon ketchup.

June 8
We stopped at Tavern in the Square in Woburn for lunch at the bar. My wife and I split the Smokin’ Tots which I hadn’t had before: smokey corn, chorizo, cotija cheese, chipotle ranch, scallions, cilantro, lime. We also had some chicken tenders. All in all pretty good.

June 11
Anna’s Donuts is located right next to my work and I tried it a few times when I started but it was always dirty and frankly the people in there were pretty rude. Today I saw a sign advertising new ownership and so I popped in. It is now run by a very nice Cambodian family and much more pleasant to eat there. I grabbed a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich and enjoyed it a lot. For dinner we got sushi from Karma.

June 10
I have been trying to eat a little lighter so I fit into my shorts when I go to Hilton Head at the end of the month. Tonight I made a simple salad with chicken.

June 14
Thomas and I stopped at Ken’s for lunch today. I got half a tuna melt, but the cheese wasn’t melted enough and the tuna was cold. I love that place, but not today.
I met Marino in Harvard Square for dinner. We went to Wusong Road and the food was amazing. The drinks were event better. After a few more drinks, we stopped at Achilito’s Taqueria for a late night taco. It was my second time there, always late at night, always good.

June 15
Happy Fathers Day! We first went to Eva’s Little Kitchen for a scone, peaches and cream. It needed a little more peach flavor but the scone itself was very good. Then we went to my in-laws. My wife ordered brisket, pastrami, and corned beef from Katz’s Deli. The best part, however, wasn’t the meat it was the mustard.

June 18
Today was national sushi day and while I don’t but into Instagram holidays, I’ll accept an excuse to east sushi. We went to Ginger in Bedford. We started with the shumai which we have loved for a long time. Of course we got a plate of sushi and also a tuna bomb, but the best dish was a yuzu yellowtail roll. After that we went to Rancatore’s for ice cream. I got Silly Willy which is peanut butter, oreo, and chocolate chip, really rich, but really good.

June 19
Kelly made me dinner tonight which was really nice. She made hot dogs which I slathered with the Katz’s mustard left over from Fathers Day. She also made potato salad and corn on the cob and picked up a new local hard cider.

May 20
We had a farewell dinner for Georgina and Spencer tonight. Since I made them enchiladas the first time we had them over, I did it again to say good bye. I filled them with my green chili chicken and topped them with tomatillo sauce and cheese. I also made Mexican rice and Kelly served up palomas.

June 21
We were in Westford and decided to give Nan’s another try. It was so chaotic the last time we went, but it was the grand opening and luckily this time was more subdued. I tried the chicken pesto sandwich which was good, but I’ll go back to the fired chicken next time.

June 22
Thomas got invited to the pool with a friend. Kelly and I took advantage of the time with out him and went over to Lexington for an Aperol Spritz and a bowl of meatballs from Il Casale.

June 23
We don’t often go to Osteria Nino, but today we really enjoyed the short rib arancini. Despite the heat, upper 90s, we sat outside. Thomas got chicken fingers and fries and posted it to his Instagram.

June 24
I’m trying to use up stuff before I go out of town so tonight I made a taco salad. The only thing I needed to buy was a chorizo sausage. Everything else, lettuce, rice, tomato, red pepper, cilantro, lime, sour cream, carrot, scallion, cheese, and tortilla chips were on hand and needed to be used up. I really liked it.

June 25
I had a sandwich from DeNo’s for lunch. It was their roast beef and it was good but needed a little extra mayo today. Today was also the first day of my Verrill Farm CSA. I picked up some garlic scapes which I made into a scramble with eggs, a potato, a long pepper, and some cheese. Yup, continuing to use up the fridge before I go out of town. Not as good as the taco salad.

June 26
Michael and I went to see Jimmy Carr at the Wang Theatre. We stopped at Ostra for dinner before hand. I’ve been going there since before it was Ostra. It was particularly good tonight. We had the hamachi crudo, the carpaccio, and some fries. I also had a nice gin and grapefruit drink called the Metronome. After the show we went to The Wig Shop for a nightcap and some excellent popcorn chicken.

June 27
We left this morning on our annual trip to Hilton Head. I ate really well. We started with a quick stop at Anita Deli Sandwich. Kelly and I split a the Southern Gobbler, which is just a turkey club, but hot damn was it good (and huge). On top of that the people there were exceptionally nice. Highly recommend going there if you are in Savannah.
Dinner was just as good. We dined at Local 11Ten. You can read more details on that visit here, but the best bite of it all was a fresh Georgia peach on top of a thick pork chop. I also got to try a new gin, Conniption Kinship from North Carolina. It was the first NC gin that I’ve tried.

June 28
The best way to start a Hilton Head vacation is with lunch on the dock at Hudson’s and that’s exactly what we did today. As always the best part of the meal were the local peel and eat shrimp, but I also really liked the peach-banana cobbler. We also had a flounder sandwich, red rice, seven day slaw, and crab claws. We ate so much for lunch that dinner was just some weird Pringles that I found at Kroger.

June 29
We spent a lot of time at the pool and the beach today. We all shared some chicken fingers and fries from the Buoy Bar as a light lunch. Then we went to Giuseppi’s for dinner and got the wings we love, with a side of honey mustard of course. We also got a Tasso Ham Pizza, which was a special. I liked the black beans, but would rather get their outstanding pepperoni pie next time.

June 30
This morning we went on a Dolphin Cruise. We stopped on our way and picked up donuts at Duck Donuts. That kept us until an early dinner at Alfred’s. Alfred’s has become a favorite stop for us. Tonight they had a special pierogi menu and we started with that. We ended with a blueberry-lemon cheesecake that was just fantastic. You can see everything we ate here.

Best of the month
