  • This is the second Rhode Island gin I tried and the first in the Collection.
  • This unique gin is made by Rhodium using botanicals foraged in the state.
  • I purchased my bottle on July 27, 2025 during a visit to the distillery.

One of my goals is to own a gin from all fifty states. Living in New England, I thought I would start with those six states. I actually have gins from five of the six for years, but I never came across a bottle of Rhode Island gin. So in July of 2025, I took the family on a little drive to The Ocean State. We stopped at Rhodium, Rhode Island Spirits, in Pawtucket where I got gin no. 113, the first Rhode Island gin of the Collection.

The distillery bar is on the second floor of an old textile mill with big windows and dark wood floors. There were three gins to try: Rhodium Gin, Forager’s Gin, and Newport Gin. Rhodium gin is their flagship gin, a traditional dry gin. Newport Gin was made at the request of Newport Restaurant Group. They wanted the perfect gin for a Negroni. Of the three, I preferred the Forager’s Gin. Not only is it a delicious herbal gin but it is made with locally sourced botanicals, many of them forged in the wild: angelica, orris, red clover, fennel, sumac, lavender, rose petals, elderberry, and rose hips.

At 84 proof this gin is surprisingly gentle when sipped. It has a pleasant earthy flavor with a creamy mouthfeel. It makes a delicious gin and tonic, but can be overpowered. Keep the tonic in check and let the gin come through or skip the tonic and enjoy it in a martini. At $35, it is a mid priced gin and we recommend it, especially if you need a Rhode Island gin in your bar.
