Kao's Kitchen is a small, authentic Cambodian restaurant in Lowell. The atmosphere is casual, but the food is exceptional. Menu highlights include pork rolls, lok-lak, and som-lor m'ju k'tis.

The Banks – ✧✧✧✧✧
In 2023, The Banks was named the best chowder in Boston by Boston Magazine. Although thiner and less creamy than Legal's, the flavor of this chowder, which has subtle bacon flavor, was very impressive. The chive oil garnish and the dinner roll made this already excellent chowder even more special.

Buff's Pub is regularly recognized for having the best buffalo wings in Boston. This Newton favorite is a small spot and often has a long wait for a table.

Kimball Farm – ✧✧✧✧
Kimball Farm in Westford is more known for ice cream and golf than clam chowder, but it turns out they have a good one. It has lots of clams and potatoes, but they serve it way too hot.

Summer Shack – ✧✧
We visited Jasper White's Summer Shack in Cambridge where we had not only a disappointing chowder, but a disappointing meal. This is one of the least flavorful chowders we've tried and we don't recommend it.
