The Colonial Inn is over 300 years old so they are expected to know how to make classic recipes like clam chowder. the only problem is they source their chowder. It's a little disappointing because somehow it's still one of the best we have had.
The Bancroft – โงโง
The Bancroft is a great restaurant but the chowder disappoints with lack of clams and potatoes, and overpowering onion/celery flavor. Despite good consistency and delicious oyster crackers, it isn't a chowder we would go back for. Stick with the burger or shrimp cocktail.
StilL 630
StilL 630 is an incredible craft distillery located just blocks from where I grew up. We currently have three of their gins in the collection.
Row 34 – โงโงโง
Row 34's chowder has been featured on several best of Boston lists. While the creamy consistency and potatoes are impeccable, the chowder lacks sufficient clams and clam flavor. The garnish of house-made saltine is special, but the overpowering bacon detracts from the clam essence.
The Stockyard – โงโงโง
The Stockyard, located on the former Brighton Cattle Market site, is renowned for great steaks with a casual atmosphere. Though it boasts good flavor and creaminess, their clam chowder falls short on clams and potatoes. While it's enjoyable, the lack of substance prevents it from being a truly hearty chowder.
