We visited Jasper White's Summer Shack in Cambridge where we had not only a disappointing chowder, but a disappointing meal. This is one of the least flavorful chowders we've tried and we don't recommend it.
Markey’s Lobster Pool – โงโงโงโง
The chowder quest leads us to Markey's. At $5.95 for a small, their clam chowder offers great flavor and perfect potatoes at a great price. Of course the real questions is how does it compare to Brown's!
Brown’s Lobster Pound – โงโงโง
Brown's Lobster Pound at Hampton Beach offers clam chowder with big clams and creamy consistency. But the overcooked potatoes and mild flavor are drawbacks. Visit for the lobster, or try the steamers with clarified butter and get a side of chowder.
The Colonial Inn – โงโงโงโง
The Colonial Inn is over 300 years old so they are expected to know how to make classic recipes like clam chowder. the only problem is they source their chowder. It's a little disappointing because somehow it's still one of the best we have had.
Cape Pier Chowder House – โงโงโง
We received a recommendation for Cape Pier Chowder House on Bickford Island in Porpoise Harbor. The chowder has great flavor but too many potatoes and not enough clams. Even still, it's worth a visit for both the chowder and the picturesque views from Bickford Island.
