When we go up to Maine we often stop at a few places and get a small bite at each one. If you are heading to the Beaches Region, the part of Maine along the coast between New Hampshire and Portland, you might want to stop at a few of these favorites.
Billy’s Chowder House – โงโง
We haven't had the best of luck with Maine chowder, but Billy's Chowder House makes several "best of" lists. We took a ride up to Maine just to get away for the day and I thought since we were nearby we should give it a try. Can Billy's redeem Maine's reputation?
gin no. 036 – Hardshore
no. 036 - Hardshore Hardshore Gin is produced in Portland, Maine I bought my bottle at the distillery in 2019 when visiting for my birthday. It's made with juniper and just four botanicals.
gin no. 017 – Cold River Traditional Gin
no. 017 Cold River Traditional Gin Cold River is a lovely gin from Freeport, ME with a base spirit made from Maine potatoes. I first started drinking this gin at Ostra in Boston. At 94 proof it is strong in alcohol content but also in flavor.
Cape Pier Chowder House – โงโงโง
We received a recommendation for Cape Pier Chowder House on Bickford Island in Porpoise Harbor. The chowder has great flavor but too many potatoes and not enough clams. Even still, it's worth a visit for both the chowder and the picturesque views from Bickford Island.
