Sunday 9.3
I had my last Doughboy donut for breakfast. It was surprisingly great even though it was more than 24 hours old. I also had a few pretzels as an afternoon snack. For dinner we had Kelly’s parents over. I made a caprese salad and grilled up a flank steak and some corn on the cob.

Monday 9.4
I had planned to have sausage and eggs for breakfast, but the last of the eggs went into my birthday cake so I had sausage and hash browns instead. An egg would have made it better but it was certainly good. After that I went over to Michael’s for a cookout. The list of things I ate was long, starting with smoked bratwurst then chips and dip. After that, I had a plate (or more) of baked beans, chicken, pork ribs, potato salad, cornbread, and mac and cheese. Finally, I had my birthday cake which was a banana cake with banana pudding inside and covered in chocolate frosting.

Tuesday 9.5
Well my weight was way up after my birthday feasting. I’m not surprised and not disappointed. It was worth it. But still I need to get back on track. I had a little ham and cheese with some pretzels for lunch. Then for dinner, Kelly and I split a chicken parm and fries from Sorento’s. The sandwich was pretty bad. I remember why I don’t eat there often anymore.

Wednesday 9.6
For the first time in months I had lunch at DeNo’s. I had a roast beef sub which was good. It was nice to sit there again even though they put a lot of work into improving the dining room, but then just refurbished the seating and left the old tables. I’m not sure what they were thinking. It was also farm share day so I stopped at Verrill Farm on my way home. I made steak with heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. Then I had some of my leftover birthday cake.

Thursday 9.7
I took a ham sandwich for lunch with a little bag of pretzels. It was very good. When I got home I made a little plate of Crucolo and cornichons for Kelly and me. Then for dinner I made two frittatas. Both had sausage but one had onion, pepper and some shredded cheese. The other had tomato, basil, and some parmesan. For dessert I had the last slice of my birthday cake.

Friday 9.8
That chicken parm I had on Tuesday was really disappointing so I got one from DeNo’s today. As you know by now, I try not to eat DeNo’s twice in a week, but now that they have seating again, it’s likely I will. The chicken parm was delicious and I got some ruffles and a Fanta to go with it.
When I got home, I started cooking some chicken. Unfortunately, there was a huge storm that blew through the area and it kept my wife at work late. I snacked on some pringles and made my son pb&j while we waited for her. When she got home, I had dinner ready. I used onion, garlic, poblanos, bell pepper, habanero, and tomato to make the chicken and I thought it was pretty spicy. She didn’t. Still we both liked it. I also had a glass of gin no. 082, which I think I like neat even more than with tonic.

Saturday 9.9
Today was the AG Fair in Concord. It’s when several of the local farms set up a stand on main street along with some civic organizations. A highlight for my son is the vegetable race where kids buy a squash and then they add wheels and decorations and roll it down a track. Unfortunately the produce selection was not as good as last year, so we mostly just walked around a bit and then I went over to The Cheese Shop to get a Phil’s Fabulous and some chips.
It was really hot, so after that we went over to Bedford Farms to get some ice cream. I had some oreo and a few sips of my son’s chocolate frappe. I wasn’t too hungry tonight so I just snacked on some chips leftover from lunch, ate the chuckles my son gave me for my birthday (minus the red one I gave to him and the yellow one I gave to Kelly), and then finished the night with a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats.

Top Three
I tried to eat a little light this week (after Monday), but I still ate very well. Here are the three best things I ate:
3. Grilled Flank Steak (Sunday)
2. Sausage, Pepper, and Onion Frittata (Thursday)
