Weekly Roundup: Week 44 – 2023

<– Week 43 HOME Week 45 –>

Sunday 10.29
I really didn’t eat anything exciting today. Lunch was a chicken salad sandwich and dinner was a bowl of cereal. Other than that I munched on candy that Thomas got from Trunk or Treat. But I did post a new gin, AMASS Dry Gin, from L.A. It’s gin no. 042 in The Collection.

Monday 10.30
I had lunch a DeNo’s today and all the new tables were in. You can see it in the picture below. It’s a nice improvement from the old ones. I also had a chicken kabob sub that was exceptional. For dinner I made a steak salad with lettuce, carrot, tomato, scallion, radishes, and cheese. That was very good too.

Tuesday 10.31
Happy Halloween! I had way too much pizza and candy today. But I did discover Jolly Rancher Gummies which I think is maybe my new favorite candy. I really liked those and lucky for me my son didn’t want them. I also finally got to try Dave’s Hot Chicken. I tried to go a couple of other times, but it hadn’t opened yet. They need to put more sauce on it, but otherwise it is fantastic, very meaty, very crispy, very good. I will be back.

Wednesday 11.1
For the first time we visited Via Lago in Lexington. I had the Acorn Squash Risotto with sea scallops and Kelly had pasta with butternut squash and chicken. I helped her with hers after I finished mine. For dessert we tried the bread pudding. Everything was pretty good and a decent price. Our server was also very nice, so we will go back again.

Thursday 11.2
I’m not feeling well today so no pictures. I just had a ham sandwich and a bowl of cereal. Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow and have more to share.

Friday 11.3
We went to Row 34 in Burlington for dinner tonight. We started with shrimp which was excellent as always. We dipped it in spicy mignonette. We followed that with oyster sliders, blue crab artichoke dip, and potatoes with feta and spicy pickled peppers. We were going to get dessert after that, but instead opted for another round of oyster sliders. To drink I started with The District, a fall martini with gin, vermouth, cardamom, and orange bitters, but the cocktail of the night was Hold Your Horses with sagamore rye, amaro dell’etna, cider, and lemon.

Saturday 11.4
For the third time this week, I tried a new restaurant. Today we went to Omar’s Bistro, which is hidden in a comic book store. The burger, The NPC, there was really awesome, particularly the house cheese it’s topped with. Nashville chicken bites were ok, better if you assembled them into a sandwich. The one mistake we made was getting the aioli-parmesan fries. We will be back but we won’t get those again.

Top Three
Almost everything pictured this week was really good. I wish the rice was cooked a little better on my risotto and if I had had more of it Kelly’s pasta from Via Lago might have made the top three. Here are the three best things I ate:
3. Chicken Kabob Sub (Monday)
2. Oyster Slider (Friday)
1. The NPC Burger (Saturday)
