Sunday 12.17
We put up our Christmas tree today and so I made a proper Sunday supper. I slow roasted short ribs and served them with onions and carrots over mashed potatoes. It was so good I wrote up the recipe.

Monday 12.18
I was telling a colleague today that my power never goes out so of course it went out. I needed to go to the mall anyway, so we just had dinner there. It was my first time going to Legal Sea Foods since they remodeled. I liked the renovations, but went with a classic order. I got the Blackened Tuna Tataki and a cup of clam chowder. It was good. The good news is the power is back on.

Tuesday 12.19
How long has it been since I went to DeNo’s. It feels like forever, but I was back today. They have new trays which was nice. I got the chicken kabob sub and some Ruffles. For dinner, I used the leftover gravy from my short ribs. I mixed it with some steak tip, onions, and carrot and ladeled it all over some parmesan polenta.

Wednesday 12.20
I worked a long day today so I made sure to take a good lunch break. I went down to Brother’s to get a roast beef sub and some chips. Then I had a late dinner at Karma with Michael, Sophorn, and Sotheara. We had the spicy lobster bomb and a lot of sushi.

Thursday 12.21
We had our staff Christmas party today at West on Centre. I tried just about everything which included: spinach artichoke dip, beef skewers, bruschetta, chicken skewers, and some sort of pizza with mashed potato on it. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture.

Friday 12.22
We have started a new Christmas tradition of celebrating at Grill 23. They had a few misses this year, particularly the horseradish cream and keeping the nuts on the bread pudding, despite being warned about a nut allergy. Nevertheless, it was a nice dinner and a good way to launch into the Christmas break. We had crab cakes, caesar salad, a 32 oz porterhouse, asparagus, mashed potatoes, and bread pudding. We drank a very special 2015 Trailside Vineyard Cabernet from Heitz Cellar.

Saturday 12.23
We had dinner tonight with our friends Georgina and Spencer. Our sons are good friends and equally picky eaters, but they don’t avoid the same things. Luckily they both like tortilla chips and video games so we went to Adelita. They had a new menu item, beef tamales. They were good and served with a very nice mexican slaw. We also got shrimp tacos and pork shoulder tacos.

Top Three
I ate a lot of good food this week. The best thing I didn’t take a picture of was the slider at West on Centre. Here are the three best things I ate (that I did take a picture of):
3. Bread Pudding (Friday)
2. Beef Tamale (Saturday)
1. Short Ribs (Sunday)
