Summer Shack – ✧✧

Jasper White’s Summer Shack has three locations, Boston, Cambridge, and Mohegan Sun. A longtime leader in Boston seafood, could they have a winning chowder? The chowder quest traveled to the Cambridge location to find out.

Clams

There are a good amount of clams in this chowder, but not a lot of clam flavor.

Cream and Consistency

Summer Shack chowder is thick but isn’t creamy either in flavor or texture.

Potatoes

The potatoes in this chowder are way too big and there are too many of them.

Garnish

Summer Shack has their own seasoned oyster crackers and fresh parsley, but despite their bright orange color, there isn’t a lot of flavor.

Everything Else

There’s nothing else exciting in this chowder.

Not Chowder

There’s a lot of seafood options at Summer Shack, but we didn’t hit on anything we liked. Sadly we can’t recommend anything to eat at the restaurant, but the drinks were good.

The Verdict

This chowder has bland flavor that doesn’t taste like clams or cream. The potatoes are too big and the seasoned oyster crackers were flavorless. This is not a clam chowder we would ever get again, especially given how expensive it is. Even worse, the rest of the meal was disappointing. We won’t be going back to Summer Shack.
