Sunday 8.20
I think I have been sick for a few days, but I’ve been powering through. Today, I couldn’t any longer. I was supposed to go to a birthday party with my wife’s family, but I just couldn’t. I did however send along some food in my place. I made carnitas, black beans, and some quick picked peppers. I did keep enough carnitas to make myself one taco. That was my whole lunch. Then for dinner I has Pringles and a very good cupcake my wife left for me. I know I’m sick when that all I eat in a day and I’m still not hungry.

Monday 8.21
This cold is still kicking my ass but I had more of an appetite today. For lunch I had two tacos from the leftover carnitas and topped them with my pickled peppers. I snacked on some pretzels in the afternoon and then for dinner got a buffalo chicken pizza from New London. I also stole some of my son’s fries on the car ride back from picking up the pizza. Before bed Kelly and I each had a little chocolate. This one was a raspberry pâte de fruit covered in dark chocolate, so good.

Tuesday 8.22
I’m feeling better but not back to normal yet. I started my day with a cold slice of last night’s pizza and then had some pringles and pretzels around lunch time. For dinner, I got Ken’s for the family. I tried their hot dog a few years ago when my son got one, but have never had one for myself. Tonight I tried the NY Kraut Dog. They use their sub roll as the bun, but other than that I really liked it. The hot dog itself is delicious. I also had a few fries.

Wednesday 8.23
Another morning, another slice of cold buffalo chicken pizza for breakfast. That held me over for a bit, so I had a late lunch/early dinner. I went to Brother’s and got a roast beef sub and some chips. On the way home, I stopped at Crosby’s to get a couple of things and ended up getting some fruit candies and ended up eating them all and ended up regretting that decision.

Thursday 8.24
I am out of pizza. I didn’t have breakfast. I had my son with me at work today and so I got DeNo’s for the office. Of course, they finally have seating and I got it to go. Next time. I got the chicken kebob sub and ate a few of my son’s fries.
For dinner I made a soup of leeks, poblano, potato, corn, chicken, and cilantro. It was quite good though Kelly suggested it could use a little lime and I think she’s right. After that, I attempted to make ketchup from one little cherry tomato my five-year-old grew. It kind of worked, so I tried to make a little bit bigger batch out of three roma tomatoes. The real proof will be tomorrow, but tonight I dipped some chips in it to taste and it isn’t bad.

Friday 8.25
I thought I was going to get to go out to lunch with my wife, but she had to work later than expected. So I brought lunch to her. I picked up a Carlitos Way at The Cheese Shop along with some chips and tomato mozzarella salad. Back home I snacked on some pretzels and then ate tater tots with the homemade ketchup I made last night.
My two Cambodian sons took me out for my birthday. I tried not to eat too much but it wasn’t easy. We went to Banyan Bar + Refuge, which is in the old Hamersley Bistro location. I had one pork bun and one chicken bun. Then I got a tuna crudo. For dessert we went to Grill 23. Before we had dessert, we got an order of shrimp cocktail. For dessert we got crème brûlée and their chocolate chip cookies. I really enjoyed the cookies.

Saturday 8.26
We had dinner guests tonight so I went back to The Cheese Shop and made a cheese plate. I got a new Swedish cheese called Priest XO. I also got two old favorites, Crucolo and Le Secret de Compostelle. Of course we had a baguette and cornichons with it. I also went to Priscilla Candy Shop to pick up chocolates for dessert. And when I went to Crosby’s for some last minute groceries, I got myself a burger for lunch. Along with the cheese plate, for dinner I made my French Moussaka with cubed lamb, eggplant, and homemade tomato sauce.

Top Three
I ate a lot this week considering I started the week off pretty sick, but I must have had a sweet tooth because most of my favorite things I ate were desserts. Among the savory dishes, I really enjoyed the bao and Banyan and of course my carnitas. But strangely, the best savory thing I ate was the chicken kabob sub at DeNo’s. It was just really good this week. Here are the three best things I ate:
3. Chicken Kabob (Thursday)
2. Chocolate Chip Cookies (Friday)
1. Strawberry Cupcake (Sunday)
