Trishna

Marylebone Village, London
One Michelin Star
Trishna is a Sanskrit word meaning “thirst”, but it also translates to “lustful cravings”. The food at this Marylebone Indian certainly has diners craving. Founded in 2008, Trishna is the first restaurant opened by the Sethi family who now have more than thirty brands in London, including the two-star Gymkhana in Mayfair.
Often regarded as one of the best values in London, the ร la carte menu allows guests to enjoy a Michelin meal for under ยฃ50. But even the Koliwada menu, a five course tasting menu, is an affordable ยฃ100.
The atmosphere is casual but refined, with white brick walls and sleek wooden tables. The environment is lively and intimate, and the staff truly exceptional. Their friendly hospitality is rivaled only by the food itself.
The tasting menu, also available vegetarian or vegan, allows for selection at each course. Outstanding dishes include the tender Tandoori Lamb Chop, an option for the third course, and the flavorful Dorset Brown Crab, available in the final savory course. However, the dish that cannot be missed is the Guinea Fowl Pepper Fry. The meat is flavored with Indian onion, curry leaf, and pepper and served on a soft and flakey Malabar parotta.
Trishna offers a ยฃ80 wine pairing. The challenging task of paring wine with the complicated spices of Indian food is handled with ease. Each paring brings out the best in both the wine and the food. They also feature two Indian gins, a nice choice with any course.
Although Trishna can be a bargain, it is also possible to splurge. The cost of dinner with two tastings with wine parings and additional cocktails was ยฃ475 approximately $600 for two people.
