Brie Dongé is produced by Brothers Luc and Jean-Philippe Dongé in Meuse, Lorraine which is in the northeast part of France. It is a Brie de Meaux, one of two brie AOCs. This cheese is a traditional brie, mild in flavor with a rich, creamy texture. Critics rave about Dongé production methods which include maturing their cheese in house and sourcing milk from small herds that include heritage breeds like Pied Noir de l’Est, Prim Holstein, and Montbeliarde.
We selected a piece from The Concord Cheese Shop at $29.99 per pound. Though not a particularly fascinating cheese, it is an excellent expression of traditional brie and a wonderful addition to a cheese plate.
