Mario’s

Walking into Mario’s takes me back. The English Tutor walls, the chairs that remind me of my grandmother’s house, the plastic green checkered tablecloths, it’s like being a kid again and I love it. But the real reason I go back to Mario’s over and over again is for their meatball sub. They start with a large sub roll and add their signature sauce. You can get it with or without meat. You’re having a meatball sub, of course you want the meat sauce.

Next they give you four big meatballs. They are much better than your average sub shop meatballs, more tender with great flavor. You then have the choice of cheese and of course you want that too. Go with Provolone. Finally they toast it to melt the cheese and crisp the top of the roll. It is glorious. If you haven’t tried one, don’t wait. Get to Mario’s.

Beyond the meatball sub, choose from pizza or pasta. The ham pizza in particular is very good. Our favorite way to complete the meal is with the Mediterranean Salad and a bottle of Chianti.
