Sunday 5.28
My friend Michael had a cookout for Memorial Day Weekend. Thomas and I went over, but before I left I had a ham sandwich. When I got there I started with kielbasa dipped in yellow mustard. The picture came out blurry, but you get the idea. Then they opened a giant thing of spice drops, which I admittedly had far too many of. After that he made burgers and dogs. I ended up having two burgers and a hot dog. I also had chips and slaw. It was far more than I should have eaten, but it was too good to stop.

Monday 5.29
Happy Memorial Day. I was on my own for brunch so I had ham and eggs with a piece of toast. For dinner, we wanted to get a pizza but most places were closed. We tried TC Landos which was ok at best. We had our house special, grilled chicken, ham, and jalapeno. I also ate some of my son’s chicken fingers and fries. They weren’t too good either. For dessert, we had buttons. apparently Thomas got these last Sunday when we had our English roast dinner and he loved them so he made me get more. I can see why he loved them. They are damn good.

Tuesday 5.30
Back to work. I just took a piece of pizza for lunch and ate it cold. I might have liked it better that way. For dinner we went to Adelita and got some Mexican food. We had chips and salsa, chicken enchiladas, and Tacos Cochinitas, bbq pork shoulder. We had never tried them before but they were really good.

Wednesday 5.31
For lunch I stopped at DeNo’s. They are making progress and I’m hoping just a couple of weeks more until I can dine in there again. They told me it would be three weeks about three months ago, but I think it might really be three weeks now. I got the roast beef sub. For dinner, I wanted to cook so I made flank steak with chimichurri. I served it with rice and green beans.

Thursday 6.1
I worked from home and so had a bowl of cereal, raisin bran. I also made a couple of tacos with the leftover rice and steak. But what was really great was Kelly asked me to make her a croque madame. I have eaten tons but never made one. She said I didn’t need to make the mornay sauce, but I felt like it wouldn’t count if I didn’t. It turned out amazing. I don’t know why I don’t eat these more often. High contender for best thing I ate this week.

Back at DeNo’s for the second time this week. I try not to go there twice a week, but it is so close and easy that sometimes it just happens. Today I got a chicken parm sub and some chips. After work I met up with Kelly at the Colonial Inn and we got fried calamari and the chicken quesadilla. We get that quesadilla a lot, and though it’s not authentic it’s pretty good. I also ate a dinner roll cause I was hungry. For dessert I got cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches.

Saturday 6.3
For lunch today we stopped at Bedford House of Beef. I feel like it isn’t as good as it was pre-COVID. In particular they seemed to have changed their fries and they absolutely changed their horseradish sauce. I got a jr. three-way, a pizza roll, and shared some fries.
For dinner, I met up with my college roommate. We snagged seats at the bar at Wusong Road. It was really great, both good tiki drinks and good food. We started with chicken sliders that looked like little chickens. Then we had pork and chive dumplings. Last I had the Jian Bing Roll-up with shrimp. We had such a good meal that I have reservations to go back in two weeks.

Top Three
I’m running a little late sharing this week’s food. Wusong Road was awesome, but as a whole the week was just ok. Here are the three best things I ate:
3. Jian Bing Roll-up with Shrimp (Saturday)
2. Flank Steak with Chimichurri (Wednesday)
1. Croque Madame (Thursday)
