Sunday 7.16
I woke up and started cooking. I had bought a rotisserie chicken yesterday and made chicken stock. So I turned that into soup. My plan is to eat it for dinner tomorrow night, but I did taste a little cup just to try it and it was very good. For lunch I made a salad with lettuce from our farm share. I made a simple dressing and then added carrots, scallions (also from our farm share), tomatoes, ham, salami, chicken, and parmesan.
After lunch we went to the movies. We saw Elemental. I got popcorn, but in an effort to be healthy I didn’t put butter on it. It was still good. For dinner, I made Italian subs. I’m determined to use up the hoagie rolls. Only one left.

Monday 7.17
I took Thomas to McDonald’s for lunch today. I tried to be good. I got a quarter pounder with cheese, but I only got a water and I split a small fries with him. But then I ate two of his chicken nuggets when he didn’t want to finish them and some chips for a snack before dinner. For dinner I had soup as planned. It was a take on Avgolemono, a Greek lemon-chicken soup.

Tuesday 7.18
More soup. Last day of soup. Still very good, even cold. For dinner I went to West Village Tavern. I still don’t know what I think if it. The service is really untrained, but the food is decent. I split chips and guacamole with the table. Chips were very good and I’m not the right person to evaluate guac. For my meal I got the shrimp po boy which was pretty good, but I don’t know if I would have called it a po boy. As a side I had a little caesar salad.

Wednesday 7.19
Kelly and Thomas came to visit me at work today. I was sure that DeNo’s would have finished their construction but still no luck so we took the food back to my office. Kelly and I went half and half on a chicken kabob sub (awesome) and a chicken parm sub (not great today). We also had some chips.
I picked up our farm share on the way home. For dinner I made chicken, summer squash, and eggplant with onion and a little fresh parsley. It turned out really good and felt like we were eating healthy.

Thursday 7.21
We went over to Anthony and Katie’s for dinner, so I tried to eat a light lunch. I had a roast pork sandwich for lunch with a few chips. When I got home, I was still really hungry so I had a quick salad.
For dinner Anthony made quite a feast. We had shrimp shumai both pan fried and steamed. We also had crab on scallion pancake. This was amazing. Then we had a stir fry and finally we had custard bao for dessert. I was stuffed when it was over, a great meal.

Friday 7.21
After last night’s dinner I wasn’t too hungry today. I had a few pretzels as a snack this morning and then made a big lunch for me and Kelly. I cooked a steak with braised greens and bacon. I thought that was going to get me through the day, but then I had a little sandwich for a late dinner because I got hungry again. Then I had a little chocolate for dessert.

Saturday 7.22
We left for a quick trip to New York City today. Knowing that dinner was going to be big, we grabbed McDonald’s on the ride down. I had a cheeseburger and shared some fries, but really McDonald’s twice in a week. That never happens. I also shared some chuckles with my family because my son wanted to buy them at the newsstand at 42nd and 3rd.
For dinner we went to Crown Shy. It is a Michelin Star restaurant in the financial district. I particularly enjoyed the tomato and goat cheese and then the spicy habenaro marinated chicken. Dessert, sticky toffee pudding, was pretty great too. For all the pictures and more details see either the Crown Shy page on this site or my harsher review on google.

Top Three
For a change it wasn’t hard for me to pick my top three. Here are the three best things I ate:
3. Avgolemono (Sunday-Tuesday)
2. Crab Bite (Thursday)
1. Tomato and Goat Cheese (Saturday)
