Braised Short Ribs

I had not made short ribs in years, but on Saturday when we went to buy our Christmas Tree at Wilson Farms, I decided to pick some up so I could make a proper Sunday supper as we decorated. I used a pretty inexpensive Cabernet ($12) and store bought beef broth and it still turned out delicious.

I first published a variation of this recipe in February of 2017 with the following note:

If you are stuck in on a snow day and want something hearty and comforting, this is a rich and flavorful dish that is sure to do the trick.  Best served over mashed potatoes, it takes a good amount of time to make so start early. The good news is that most of the time is inactive, so once you put it in the oven you can sit back and relax.

I still agree with those thoughts so I’ll leave it at that and just share the recipe.
