travel bite: Husk – Savannah, GA

July 9, 2022

About a year ago, I had a wonderful brunch at Husk in Charleston, SC. It was so good that I made a reservation for the Savannah outpost of Husk while I was still at the table. By the time I got to Savannah, I was too tired and lured in by street cocktails and taco windows, so I canceled it. Well I made it back to Savannah and this time Husk was a must. Here is a photo essay of my outstanding dinner on July 2, 2022.

Art and Anarchy
Rum, Madira, Kirsch, Carrot, Grapefruit, Sherbet
GA Yellowfin Tuna, Kombu, Watermelon, Carolina Gold Rice, Daikon Radish, Lemon Balm
Pimiento Cheese Tartine, Pickled Bradford Okra, Watermelon Radish, Arugula
Hunter Cattle Farm Pork, Confit Leeks, Mojo Rattlesnake Beans, Black Garlic
Beef Tenderloin, Bradford Cabbage, Shishitos, Cherry Tomato, Shiso
Burnt Honey Napoleon
Peach Ice Cream, Cream Cheese Shell, Garden Flowers
with Hellbender Rye – Decatur, GA

A few of brief notes: Like Husk in Charleston, the focus is on hyperlocal farm to table food. The board in the collage lists local farms and purveyors. The wine pictured is the 2019 Angel Oak Reserva Malbec from Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina. The vineyard specifically grows wine for Husk and other restaurants and retailers in the Charleston area. We very much enjoyed the Hellbender Rye which is made by Independent Distilling Company in Decatur, just outside of Atlanta.
