I’ve been going to Trainwreck in Rock Hill since I was a kid, and since then, I’ve been basically getting the same three things: toasted ravioli, wings, and triple cheeseburgers. I don’t usually get all three at the same time, but I have. The toasted ravioli is the traditional St. Louis variety with meat-filled fried ravioli, grated parmesan cheese (like the kind you get in a green can), and marinara sauce. You can’t go wrong with it. The wings are crispy and saucy, with good heat. I dip my wings in honey mustard rather than ranch or blue cheese incase you didn’t already know.

The triple cheeseburger is not what it sounds like. The cheese is times three, not the patty. It’s a half pound burger with American, Swiss and Provolone. You can swap out the beef for bison or you can upgrade to grass fed beef for an extra charge. They come with fries which you can get seasoned or plain. I have probably eaten a few dozen of these over the years.

The best place to sit is in the original part of the tavern, the front room, which dates back to 1890. They have expanded since then and even opened a second location in Westport. I don’t get to St. Louis as much as I used to, but I still end up at Trainwreck most of the times I go back, partly because it’s an old familiar favorite and partly because who else puts three different slices of cheese on a cheeseburger!
