Sunday 4.23
Life is a little back to normal after a busy week last week. I went to the grocery store this morning and got some food for the house. For lunch I made ham and salami sandwiches with cheese and hots. We had those with some pop corners. For dinner I got takeout from Ken’s. My wife and I split two of our favorites, buffalo chicken fingers and a chicken kabob wrap. I had a little sweet tooth after dinner so I grabbed some leftover Easter candy.

Monday 4.24
Today was my best friend’s birthday. He was having dinner at Mooo…. so I stopped by to wish him happy birthday. I wasn’t planning to eat, but I ended up with a little plate of shrimp, asparagus, and steak. I also had a couple of scoops of his mom’s creme brulee. I was really impressed with the service at Mooo…. That part of the meal was a little iffy the last time we were there. Kudos to Kim!
During the day, I had a cheese plate for lunch at work. I had the rest of the challarhocker from Easter, salami, peanuts, pretzels, and pickled onions. For my planned dinner, Kelly, Thomas, and I went to Karma. We got salt and pepper chicken wings, which was amazing, and a little sushi.

Tuesday 4.25
I was so hungry when I woke up this morning. I usually don’t eat anything until 10:30 or 11:00, but I was starving. I stopped by Crosby’s on my way to work and got a sausage, egg, and cheese flatbread to eat as I drove. I skipped lunch, but had a bag of Pirate’s Booty as a snack when I got home.
For dinner I made pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and carrots. My carrot recipe is pretty good, I should write it up, but it’s basically just carrots with garlic powder and paprika roasted for 35 minutes at 400°. After that I raided the Easter basket again.

Wednesday 4.26
I had an evening meeting for work today. I ate an early lunch at home and then headed in. I was going to have a sandwich but was out of bread so I just had salami and cheese rollups with some chips. I ran out to get a sandwich before my meeting. On top of that, a gyro from Christo’s. I had never been there before and the pizza looked good, but the gyro was nothing special. It didn’t taste bad, but I wouldn’t get it again. I also had some more chips.
I went back to my car and it wouldn’t start. I think something was wrong with the electrical system. I tried to start it about every ten minutes and magically after about an hour of that, (I was waiting for a tow) poof, it started. By the time I got home, I needed sugar, so I ate the M&Ms I got at the gala I went to back in March. Long day.

Thursday 4.20
I’m still trying to figure out what is wrong with my car so I kept it simple during the day. I had a bowl of Frosted Flakes for breakfast and some peanuts and pretzels as a snack. For dinner I made swordfish topped with sautéed shallots and sun-dried tomatoes. (I think at this point “sundried” should be a word.) I served it with spinach and rice. I skipped dessert tonight in favor of a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with dinner.

Friday 4.28
I had a busy day at work and no time to eat. After work, I stopped at Wilson Farm to get food for dinner. There I got a maple-walnut scone and an apple for a snack. For dinner I had Sotheara over and made my ricotta gnocchi with a nut free pesto sauce. To make nut-free pesto, I just swap out pine nuts for pepitas. Alongside the gnocchi, I made a duck breast, seared and then roasted. The price of duck has really skyrocketed. Wilson Farm is usually reasonably priced, but this duck was $29.99 per pound! For dessert Sotheara brought me a lemon donut from Donna’s. Those are always good.

Saturday 4.29
I don’t feel so great today. I can’t tell if it is a little cold or allergies or what. Kelly and I were going to go out to dinner, but I didn’t feel up to it. So we got Indian take out and a milkshake. Bedford Farms and Holi Indian Restaurant are right next door. We ate the milkshake first on the car ride back home, and Oreo frappe. Back at home, we had chicken curry with rice and naan. It was good and very spicy, but I like some of their other dishes better so I probably wouldn’t get it again.
For lunch I talked my son into trying a “chicken sandwich.” He’s a very picky eater, but he eats chicken nuggets and he eats bread so I convinced him to try putting a chicken nugget between bread, baby steps. For my wife and me, I got a steak and cheese with peppers, onions and extra cheese. I also ate some of my son’s french fries and nuggets. All of lunch came from New London in Concord.

Top Three
I ate really well this week. I cooked three good meals, and I really loved the Oreo frappe from Bedford Farms, but the best things I ate were:
3. Swordfish (Thursday)
2. Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings (Monday)
1. Gnocchi and Duck (Friday)
